also, I have another topic for a video: theoretical use of DXM
    (dextromethorphan) as a nootropic

[NOTE to anyone reading this: I do NOT recommend or condone the
recreational use of DXM. Many cough syrups containing it also have other
additives like gaufinesin, pseudoephedrine and acetaminophen which CAN KILL
YOU in higher doses. And even IF you have a cough syrup
containing/extraction with just DXM, higher recreational doses (800 mg+ for
the average person IMO)can cause small amounts of BRAIN DAMAGE, and
(although this is a matter of much debate) possibly even Olney’s LESIONS.
Redosing and doses of 1000mg+ have the definite capability of causing
SEROTONIN SYNDROME, which can be FATAL. Always practice safety and common

a bit of embarrassing background info; back in my younger (read: DUMBER)
years, I would get high on the DXM in cough syrup. AFAIK, DXM is one of the
most complex drugs out there. it is the only drug I know of that has
‘plateaus’, meaning the effects actually change based on the dosages. there
is really so much more to it than I could put in a comment, but I’ll
outline the 4 plateaus (I only have experienced the 1st and 2nd but have
read a lot about the 3rd and 4th)

1: mild euphoria, energy, things seem “different”

2: euphoria, drunk and stoned feeling, music sounds amazing, dilated sense
    of time, lights/moon/etc look divine

3: psychedelic and disassociative (feel disconnected from body)

4: open eye visuals, ego death, out-of-body experiences, see aliens…
basically all kinds of crazy shit

so anyway, you can see its very complex and intriguing. the data on it is
very conflicting as well. in lower doses it seems to be neuro-regenerative,
while at higher doses it seems to be neurotoxic.

anyway, I hadn’t thought about DXM for several years until a few days ago
when I saw it mentioned in the nootropic subreddit. one guy said that in
the 50-100mg range, he found it to give a steady energy, increased
creativity, better reflexes, and also a “mathematically inclined mind”. now
I thought back to my early experiments with very low dose DXM when I was
trying to figure it out, those effects, though obviously not the ones I had
been looking for at that time, did sound familiar.

Just a subject of curiosity for me I guess. I’ll probably do some of my own
experiments soon, but you have more scientific education than me so I
figured you might want to research it if it interests you

so are the contractile benefits immediate, or do they take awhile like

I’ve seen half my clients respond almost immediately. the other half takes
some time. I haven’t really found a reason other than genetic variances.
